The Outlaws review

Posted : 4 months, 2 weeks ago on 5 July 2024 04:38 (A review of The Outlaws)

I love Stephen Merchant's writing style. The dialogue here is so reminiscent of The Office, but I think the plot of The Outlaws is so much fun, so much adventure, and more character development so it feels like a fuller, more fleshed out show. 2 thumbs up!

Genie review

Posted : 4 months, 2 weeks ago on 5 July 2024 04:25 (A review of Genie)

I was nervous because Melissa McCarthy doesn't always pick the best projects (even though she is hilarious and awesome) and it has a pretty low critic rating, but it was GREAT for a Christmas movie! All the feels and Melissa being her charming funny self. This and Spirited are my favorite modern day holiday movies

Sunshine review

Posted : 4 months, 2 weeks ago on 5 July 2024 04:23 (A review of Sunshine)

This miniseries was an absolute masterpiece. 10/10 even with some of the actors being inexperienced. So layered, beautiful stories and characters, a great mystery, and basketball! It has everything. Even a great soundtrack that made me want to look up South Sudanese rappers! Highly recommend

Getting On review

Posted : 4 months, 2 weeks ago on 5 July 2024 04:20 (A review of Getting On)

I love how everyone was SUPER flawed but tried their best and were essentially good people. Usually shows make the flawed people unlikeable or "bad".
It's very real. they learn from their mistakes but not really, and they keep making the same mistakes like how in real life you would unless you got therapy...
There's no redemption arc that wouldn't happen in real life.. they're just stumbling through life like all of us with issues.

Supacell review

Posted : 4 months, 2 weeks ago on 5 July 2024 04:12 (A review of Supacell)

Wow. This show is amazing. And so good for black culture. It starts out slow, but why? Because they're building a strong foundation. Fleshing out the characters and their world. Building the story, building the relationships.
Every main character is so fully and deeply developed and so different from one another, and it's so wonderful. It's so deep and layered. From gang violence to white supremacy to showing a wholesome love story with a beautiful black couple. Showing the strong bond of black families, and the strong bond of gang families when there is no blood family to be a part of.
And the sci-fi comic part of the story? Come on! Top notch! All black superheroes!? Great powers, great build up of them figuring them out, the special effects were decent besides the end of the first episode. The eyes glowing and any time some semblance of the 5 were together gave me goosebumps. And not gonna lie, i bawled during the last episode a couple of times and was out of my seat for the last 10 or so minutes.
Absolutely beautiful show! Can't wait for what's next โค๏ธโœŠ

Get Out (2017) review

Posted : 7 years, 6 months ago on 25 May 2017 01:54 (A review of Get Out (2017))

This is honestly the most satisfying horror film I've ever seen. Retribution for all the black folks who never survived in every horror film, for all the stereotypes and prejudice! Beyond that it is a great film anyway. Great pacing, great acting, great story!
